For some of us with a sense of humour (and believe me you definitely need one!) this little comedy of errors is something you have to have a laugh at because if you didn't you could seriously put your blood pressure right up the chimney!

Don't gasp too loudly I obviously don't take any pleasure in the pain of others.....honestly! Nope you can put down those pearls as us safety practitioners don't actually want you to have accidents, this is in fact the reason we spend a lot of our time walking around with clipboards calling people out on the things that we know will lead to harm.

Some of the ways people find to hurt themselves is astounding, human acts and omissions there are many reasons for these the trick is trying to work them out then convince people there is a different way. This is another area where we safety bods can land a bad rep - catching the accident before it happens is often called sticking your nose in, and if I could have just a few pennies for everytime complacency is quoted at me, well I definitely wouldn't need to earn any more money.

If you read this and you are not a safety bod please record your near misses its a great way to stay out of the accident book!
